Despite average reviews, Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin broke the $1 billion dollar mark and thus earned itself a sequel.
Walt Disney Studios is currently in development of a sequel to the 2019 remake of their animated classic. John Gatins (Flight) and Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) are attached to write.
Aladdin grossed over $1 billion dollars at the global box office during its run. It was one of seven movies to gross over a billion dollars. Other films included; Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, The Lion King, Frozen II, Toy Story 4 and Star Wars, Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
Early reports are indicating that the story will be an original story rather than adapting the animated sequel, Return of Jafar.
